Beware the Little Foxes: C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis is a popular author among many Christians. What I want to know is why so many are trying so hard to make this man a Christian.


I'm thankful I was spared from his Narnia series as a child. I had never even heard of Lewis or Narnia and my husband and I were completely ignorant about Lewis' beliefs and his preoccupation in the occult. All we knew was everyone says they're great books. 

 My husband remembered reading them as a child so he bought the entire series for our kids when they were beginning to read.
It hadn't occurred to us to research Narnia's author. We usually do this with most authors because a book is no better than it's author. When we finally did poke around the internet, we were sick. We immediately got rid of the Narnia books.


Show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are.

So much can be ascertained by who a person keeps company with, but also who they admire and esteem. So it was quite nauseating to learn that C.S. Lewis had documented friendships with such men as George MacDonald (a mentor of pedophile Alice author Lewis Carroll) , the Inklings, Owen Barfield, and Charles Williams (author of All Hallows Eve).

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Proverbs 3:20

Books are very much like companions. We cannot be too careful about who our children's companions are, as well as our own for that matter. I want my and my children's companions to be holiness, truth, wisdom - and the man and Saviour Christ Jesus.

Scriptural Heresies


In his books, Reflections on the Psalms and Miracles, Lewis clearly rejects Old Testament miracles and reveals his belief that there are historical errors and mistakes in Holy Scripture.

I found the passages contained within the Chronicles of Narnia, like the blatant pagan rituals, sun worship and sexulisation of children to name a few to be quite horrifying and blasphemous.



To make matters worse, CS Lewis intended his books for children. Once we were aware of this man's background, beliefs and practices, it was clearly obvious that the many demonic thematic inclusions and vulgar pagan subtext behind his fantasy literature were derived by his personal obsession with the occult.

So my question is: what on earth are these materials doing in Christian homes?


Warnings in Scripture

The Scriptures warn, "And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God" (Lev. 20:6-7.)

There is no middle ground here

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness....Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight" Isaiah 5:21

The Bible makes it clear in both the Old and New Testaments that occult practices are an abomination to the Lord.

There shall not be found among you any ... that useth divination, or an observer of tiems, or an enchanger, or a witch, (11) or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD. Deut 18:10-12

How serious does God view the occult and wizardry? The Apostle Paul indicts Elymas the sorcerer with these words:

O full of all subtlety (deceit) and all mischeif (maliciousness), thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? Acts 13:10

Intended for Precious Children

Any time a work is published aimed at children, BEWARE. Children are preciously naive and Satan and his followers know this. God has designed that parents train their children in righteousness. Our young people need to be familiar with the Word of God - not the occult.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy GOd with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy childrn, and shat talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and wehn thou liest down and when thou risest up." Deut. 6:4-7

It is every parent's responsibility to raise their children for God.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

With the increased popularity in sorcery ushered in through the Harry Potter series, is it any wonder that Disney is riding the beast of Narnia all the way to the bank?


There is much, much more to learn about C.S. Lewis. The documentation is there if you search for it.  Of course there will always be people who read testimonies and documentation and dismiss it as inaccurate or even folly. 

But the witches and warlocks know better. They report that the Narnia books contained rites and rituals that were accurate verbatim among practicing sorcerers.  For example, did you know that the Narnia series is required reading for neophyte witches?  



What are these books doing in the hands of children?

Better yet, what are these books doing in the homes of believers?

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5

We must all stand before the Lord one day about the decisions we make for ourselves and especially for our children. If you didn't know know about C.S. Lewis and the perils of his Narnia series, you do now.


Our children need parents who will set wise and holy boundaries for them and feed them on that which is wholesome, pure, lovely, and of good report. (Phil 4:8) This is my desire and intent.
