Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

This is a delicious recipe that makes me feel like I'm in my grandma's kitchen. It smells so good and fills the house with a nostalgic aroma.  This recipe is also handy as it uses simple pantry ingredients. I love to make this for my family often and it makes a great wholesome snack or weeknight dessert.

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup molasses

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon real sea salt
  • 1 cup hot water

  3. In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves  Blend into the creamed mixture.
